What Should I Bring On My First Dental Visit?

Posted on 5/1/2024 by Weo Admin
Beautiful woman smiling. If it is your first visit to our dentist, welcome to our fabulous practice! There are a few things you need to know before you visit any dentist, so here are some tips for you to know before you visit any dentist for the first time.

Your New Patient Forms

If you have not already filled out new patient forms online and would prefer to print them out, you need to bring them to the office before your first visit, if possible. That way, we will be able to input all of your information and prepare insurance forms if necessary.

Your Insurance Information

People with dental insurance need to bring their dental insurance cards so that we can make a copy. We can also contact them ahead of time to get benefits information, as well as any deductibles and co-pays. If you are not sure how much your insurance will pay for your dental work, you can always stop by our office before your dental visit so that we can find out your benefits information before your visit.

Your Previous Dental Records and X-Rays

Whether you have just moved to the area or are changing dentists, you must bring information about your previous dental exams and X-rays, if possible. That way, our dentist will have an idea of prior work and your prior dental health.

Your Overall Health and Prescription Medications

One of the most important items we need information on is your overall health and the prescription medications you are taking. This information is important for a couple of reasons. First, if you have a chronic medical condition such as allergies, asthma, heart disease, diabetes, or epilepsy, our dentist needs to know. Patients with these conditions take medications that can affect their dental health. For example, people with allergies and asthma may take corticosteroid inhalers and antihistamines, which can dry out your mouth and increase the cavity-causing bacteria you have.

Are you ready to visit our dentist, or are you still looking for a dentist? We are here to help! Reach out to us today to set up an appointment.
