How to Make Sure You Ask the Right Questions on Your Next Dental Visit

Posted on 7/1/2024 by Florida Smiles Dental
Dentist speaking with patient at Florida Smiles Dental in Fort Lauderdale, FLHow many times have you thought of questions you want to be sure you ask your doctor or dentist, only to completely forget them once you arrive at the office? When it comes to your health, it is all the more important you ask questions to help you stay healthy. Here are some ways to make sure you ask the right questions for your dental health as well.

Tricks to Make Sure You Ask the Right Questions

One of the best ways to make sure you ask the right questions is to write down your questions ahead of time before you come to our office. You can write questions as you think of them on your phone, so they are readily available during your appointment. Also, you may want to write them on a list to take with you. Patients often tell us that they write questions down as they think of them between visits.

What Are the Most Common Questions Dental Patients Have?

Often, the dental questions we hear often in our office fall into a few categories. First, many dental patients want to talk to our dentist about the dental health of their children. Many parents do not know when to begin bringing their children to the dentist for their first visit. Also, parents are not sure when to begin brushing the baby teeth, or when to teach them to brush their own teeth.

Another category of dental questions our patients ask is how to maintain their dental health over time. Patients ask questions about brushing techniques, when and how often to floss, types of toothbrushes to buy, and what to do if they are overbrushing or underbrushing.

Finally, patients ask questions about both tooth decay and gum disease because they want to maintain their dental health. Patients ask about warning signs for periodontal disease as well as tooth decay. Many patients want to learn how to care for their teeth and gums in the best way possible.
